Rolfing Structural Integration
A form of hands-on manipulation and movement, Rolfing Structural Integration works on the connective tissue (fascia) to release, realign and balance the whole body. More than fifty years ago, Dr. Rolf recognized that the body is inherently a system of seamless networks of tissues rather than a collection of separate parts. These connective tissues surround, support and penetrate all of the muscles, bones, nerves and organs. Rolfing works on this web-like complex of connective tissues to release, realign and balance the whole body. Essentially, the Rolfing process enables the body to regain the natural integrity of its form, thus enhancing postural efficiency and your freedom of movement. Lengthening and reorganizing the layers of fascia frees the body from patterns of tension and bracing, and restores mobility, alignment, and grace. As layers of fascia are freed, the body can reorganize itself.
Rolfing Structural Integration is not painful, and may bring dramatic results, including injury recovery, pain reduction, stress relief, increased flexibility, increased breathing capacity and better balance.
Rolfing has shown to be extremely effective for numerous conditions, including:
- Headaches
- Whiplash Tendonities
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Rotator cuff injuries
- Lower back pain
- Scoliosis
- Knee and hip problems
- Plantarfascitis
- TMJ disorder
